We also ordered char siu pork fried rice. We ordered fried prawns as an appetizer and received prawns that were smothered in sauce instead. The pictures on the wall are not a practical alternative as they are located on the walls next to where other patrons are sitting. We are always looking to try new menu items, but when we asked about certain items, they could not really explain what these items were. The waitresses were very curteous and friendly but they were not knowlegeable when it came to the food items on the menu. I was suprised at how empty the place was. We were expecting to see a noisey place crowded with patrons and the big circular tables filled with families. The first clue was when we walked in on Friday evening at the start of the dinner hour. But lately, things seem to be different and it leaves us wondering what is happening. To me, it is representative of so many "hole-in-the-wall" chinese food resturants that typically serve great food in a very modest environment. It is very plain and the walls are decorated with pictures of the menu items that can be ordered, interspaced with the jerseys of successful local sports figures. It is a very small establishment located in the Foodland Shopping Center just off the Kam Highway in close proximity to the Polynesian Cultural Center and the BYU Campus. Laie Chop Suey has been one of our favorite resturants on the Northshore of Oahu.
